Oru Appreciation Post

We moved to Oru Space in Sutton in September 2023, and I wont lie, I think it is the best decision we ever made. After years of covid we were kind of all working from home which was a bit sad as we enjoy each others company (genuinely).

We stumbled across Oru in Sutton (which was still being built at the time) to potentially do a photoshoot there. We didn’t know much about what it was other than it looked quite funky on the website. We arranged a viewing with Dom who took us on a tour of the entire building, hard hats and steel boots on as we went around what we soon realised was a building site. A HUGE building site. I could see us all looking at each other thinking, hmm, I don’t think this is quite going to work for our photoshoot.

As the tour went on, Dom told us the plans for the building, a co working space, wellness centre, restaurant, event space, nursery, rooftop spa and wine bar (Cassie was then sold) and to top it off, dog friendly (Bee was then sold).  I just remember thinking to myself, this place sounds wonderful. Dom told us all about the ethos of Oru, as there was already one open in East Dulwich.

Oru’s mission:

Oneness is the essence that sustains and drives our regenerative culture, through a series of interconnected decision making processes. Through coworking, wellbeing, food and events, we nurture an ecosystem of inclusive, vibrant community, across multi-faceted, accessible and dynamic spaces. Sustainability and purpose is at the core of every action, as we innovate through creative collision and collaboration to regenerate high streets, build social initiatives and support wellbeing. We take a long-term view for economic success alongside the health of our community and environment.

After then visiting East Dulwich to see the real vision, we made the decision to get an office there. I was like a kid on Christmas Day.

Cut to the present day and we have now been at Oru for almost a year. We have our office which we have made like a cosy front room, we dabble in yoga, sound baths and pilates, oo lala! But the main bonus is the people we are surrounded by. It is like a little village of genuine really good people. We love it here and I am so glad we went on that random tour of that building site for a photoshoot we never did.
